Akshay takes a step back from comedy

Bollywood superstar, Akshay Kumar, will be stepping away from his signature comedy and action roles to portray a serious character in his upcoming film Special 26, in which he features alongside South Indian starlet, Kajal Aggarwal, and Bollywood veterans, Anupam Kher and Manoj Bajpayee. The actor was willing to take on the challenging role and reinvent himself as he plays a fake CBI policeman in the new film, which is based on the real life heist that took place on 19th March1987 at a famous jewellery shop in Mumbai, where men posing as Central Bureau of Investigation officers on a raid walked away with jewellery worth millions of rupees. Akshay says, “A con confident artiste is something I have never been offered before and I am happy to have got this opportunity. I am very satisfied with the role and it was a challenge. But I am happy to get an opportunity to reinvent myself.” Director Neeraj Pandey says, “It is inspired from that incident and bits of it are from other stories I read in the papers…strung together, they were the perfect backdrop for the film.” The filmmaker believed that the Akshay would be the ideal actor to pursue the role and helped him visualise the character. Deols pictured in the Midlands

The first images of the Bollywood shoot at the University of Leicester have been released. They show veteran actor Dharmendra in relaxed fashion with his star sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. The family are in Leicester for the making of Yamla Pagla Deewana 2  (Mad Madder Maddest 2) – a sequel to the blockbuster family franchise movie. The crew of over 100 are using the University of Leicester as their base and have shot extensive sequences at the University’s Botanic Garden as well as in its award-winning Library. Other sequences will be shot at the city’s Museum and Art Gallery and in the county. University spokesperson Ather Mirza who has met with the stars said: “Sunny and Bobby appear very relaxed and are keen to work with our History of Art and Film students to get to grips with the technical aspects of filmmaking. “The photos show the actors in our halls of residence- they will literally be rubbing shoulders with the students which will no doubt be an exciting prospect for freshers and returning students.” Sunny Deol said: “This is a fantastic campus with excellent facilities-but what is more important is that we have been made to feel very welcome here. Nindy Kaur’s Tribute to RDB’s Kuly

Singer Nindy Kaur has lent her soulful voice to a special song in memory of RDB’s Kuly Ral, her brother-in-law. The moving song, titled ‘Tut Gaya Dil’, features the vocal talents of rising urban rap star Smooth, whose collaboration on Nindy’s track ‘Aloo Chaat’ saw him come to the attention of music moguls around the world. He was immediately signed to the RDB label Three Records Ltd to work on new material, with his debut being a feature on Nindy’s tribute track to Kuly. The track has been written by Nindy, Smooth and Kuly’s father Harjog Singh, and is scheduled for release later this month through Three Records Ltd. Nindy said of the project: "Not only did I lose my brother-in-law but a true friend, my biggest support and studio buddy. The atmosphere in the studio will never be same. “I had to pour out my feelings to Dad (Harjog Singh) when writing my lines, and I must say Dad did an amazing job of writing those emotion filled lines. Smooth is like a brother and we've shared many good times with Kuly when making songs like Aloo Chaat. When he asked me to be part of this song there was no way I would ever refuse.
