desirascals1TOWIE’s Jasmin Walia joins Desi Rascals 2

The Desi Rascals are back for a second series and this time joined by brand new cast members who will be bringing even more glitz and glamour to the real-life, non-scripted drama from Gurinder Chadha (Bend it Like Beckham) and Tony Wood, creator of The Only Way Is Essex.

Expect more laughter, tears and family dramas as stars Anj, Moses, Shmoyel, Owais, Rita, Yasmin, Jo and Nat return with a host of new faces, including Jasmin Walia of The Only Way Is Essex fame and her boyfriend Ross Worswick previously seen in MTV’s Ex on the Beach; Solomon Akhtar, star of BBC ONE’s The Apprentice, and favourite Take Me Out girl, Fahra Rai.

This exciting new series of Desi Rascals will delve deeper into the eventful lives of this multigenerational cast of fun-loving and aspirational members of the British-Asian community, with some big surprises, tough decisions, life-changing events and even a wedding in store.   We see a new side to loved-up Jasmin as she explores her cultural roots, finding her true voice as she follows her dreams of fame and fortune. But is it everything she expected it to be? And will her first-ever committed relationship with party boy, Ross, survive?

jasminwalia1Jasmin Walia says: I’m really excited to be joining Desi Rascals. Since leaving the cast of TOWIE I have been very fortunate to receive numerous offers of work, and this is the opportunity I’ve been looking for that will allow me to explore my cultural roots whilst still maintaining all the glitz and glamour that I love. I’m having such an amazing time with Ross at the moment, and this next chapter promises to be even better, full of surprises and magical moments that I’m sure viewers will also enjoy sharing with us. Watch this space!   New Desi in town, Solomon, wants it all – ladies, career and to be leader of the pack. But can he have it all, and how will Owais react to the threat of someone vying for his King of the Desi Castle title? Solomon already has his eyes on the ladies and is hard at work on a master plan to take over the world, one rascal at a time.

Solomon Akhtar says: “When it comes to girls I’m like a kid in a candy store and I can’t decide which candy I want to eat! If I like someone, I’m going to do whatever it takes and if there’s a guy in the way, it’s just a guy in the way. It’s not going to be too much trouble.”   And glamorous and feisty Fahra is desperate to fall in love. She has had her heart broken a few times and is still looking for Mr Right. Will her strong opinions and Western ways continue to hold her back or will she find her Desi prince charming?

Fahra Rai says: “Because I’ve got bright blonde hair, I’m quite out there and sometimes guys are intimidated by me.  And with a lot of Indian guys most of them do want that Bollywood princess, you know, tall, slim, black hair, very princess looking. And I’m the opposite – even though I’m a bit of a princess – a lot of guys are a little bit more judgmental and they think: she’s too Western, she has no culture, how am I going to bring her home to my mum?”   Series two will also continue to follow the turbulent relationship of Moses and Jo, as Jo follows her Bollywood dreams; we’ll watch as beauty entrepreneur Yasmin begins to consider marriage proposals with the help of friends and her Executive Assistant, George. Expect even more family drama, feisty clashes and disastrous dates in this explosive new series.
