Bhangra sensation Garry Sandhu was no doubt hoping for a Christmas at home with his UK family after a stressful few months, however fans were shocked to find out the singer had once again been detained by UK authorities and was spending Christmas day at a detention centre.
The news was confirmed by fellow artist and friend of Garry Sandhu, Roach Killa. Roach posted this message on Garry's facebook page: "This is Roach Killa….Just got off the phone to Garry and THIS IS WHAT HE HAD TO SAY TO YOU ALL, his wonderful fans…'Sorry I haven't been in touch with you all, I have been DETAINED once again since last week….Remember me in your prayers. HOPE ALL GOES WELL..MERRY XMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR'….Garry Sandhu
On 27th October 2011 Garry Sandhu was detained by police in Handsworth, Birmingham. At the time the UK Border Agency confirmed, ““We can confirm an Indian national was detained yesterday in the West Midlands area. When someone is found not to have a right to remain in the UK, we expect them to leave voluntarily. If they fail to do so, we will seek to enforce their removal.”
However on 14th November 2011 Garry was back home in the UK with his family, but when Ikonz spoke to the UK Border Agency this is what they told us, “Garry Sandhu has no right to be in the UK. He has been temporarily released on immigration bail while we consider further legal representations. When someone is found not to have a right to remain in the UK, we expect them to leave voluntarily. If they fail to do so, we will seek to enforce their removal.”
