In what can only be described as a devastating week for Indian Cinema comes the sudden death of highly-respected and highly-adored Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor. Even as we write this we can’t quite believe it!
Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and returned to India last September after a year-long treatment in New York. He was taken to hospital on Wednesday morning after he complained of breathing difficulties, his brother Randhir Kapoor told Press Trust of India.
Bollywood fans across the world and the world of Indian cinema were only yesterday coming to terms with the death of Irrfan Khan. however today their hearts shattered even more so as one of the most popular actors of our time has died.
He was part of the Kapoor acting dynasty which has long dominated Bollywood, the Hindi film industry. He has starred alongside the very best, and was undoubtedly one of the very best himself!
The actor made a huge splash in 1973 with his first lead role in Bobby – a teenage love story. He played the romantic lead in many films for over two decades, after which he made a successful transition to character roles.
As so many others, we are deeply saddened by his loos. and our thoughts and prayers go out to all the Kapoor family, his friends and family, the industry and all of his fans.
